Make Money Shooting DIY Videos

They are everywhere, YouTube, AOL Videos, Flicker, Metacafe and many more. We are talking about people just like you making and posting videos for the public to view.

With the availability of almost any subject, and I mean almost *any* subject, a video can address why not use the opportunity to have some fun, learn a lot and perhaps make a few extra dollars along the way. It may even help pay for all that equipment you've been wanting.

Speaking of equipment, actually you need very little to start. Of course, you will need a camcorder and computer to upload to the video server. Nevertheless, take heart; you do not need anything near broadcast quality equipment, especially when just starting.

When looking for a camcorder, carefully consider the MiniDV format. While the newer MiniCD and internal hard drive camcorders do offer convenience, these formats do not lend themselves to the easy editing like the MiniDV. One thing you do not want to use is anything with analog tape, such as VHS or Super 8. While these were once/are popular formats they are not digital, therefore editing is much more difficult with these systems.

Another consideration is a camcorder with an external microphone jack. While almost all entry-level camcorders will shoot an adequate video (adequate may not necessarily be professional), without a mic jack the sound will suffer. Videos with only adequate video and poor sound will not be successful; indeed, it may even be a determent for your future videos if someone buys your poor sounding video first. Remember---Sound Matters!

One entry-level camcorder I have used and can recommend is the Canon ZR800. Currently (March '08) the ZR800 can be purchased for under $200 US Dollars. This camcorder has a mic jack and is likely the only one you will find for less than $500 that will have one. In addition, the picture quality is OK for a DIY video.

Another critical must have is some type of lighting setup. A very common lighting unit is a converted halogen shop light. These lights can be found at many big box stores such as Big Lots, Lowes, Wal-Mart, etc. While they provide a lot of light, it is a harsh light and needs to be toned down somewhat for video use. One good way to do this is bounce the light off a nearby wall or use foam board to reflect the light back to your subject. In a pinch, aluminum foil over cardboard or a reflective auto sunscreen will do.

Now back to the microphone (mic). While you can spend hundreds or even thousands for a top quality microphone, likely that is out of the question for most people just starting out. One suggestion is look on eBay for a lapel condenser microphone or a shotgun microphone. One piece of advice; if you are using the ZR800 you need to get a condenser microphone with a built in power supply. This built in power supply (pre-amp) is usually powered by an AA or similar battery.

When I first started, I used a microphone that cost less than $20. While I do not recommend you go this cheap, it does show what you can do on limited funds. Trust me on this one, the $20 mic sounded MUCH better than most built-in camcorder microphones.

You need some way to get the video from your camcorder into your computer; Firewire is the most common and preferred way. When you purchase your camcorder check to see if a Firewire is included or if it is purchased separately. Here's a tip. If the camcorder you are considering does not include a Firewire cable, buy one off eBay. They are much less expensive there than at the local Best Buy/Circuit City type of store.

Furthermore, make sure your computer will accept Firewire, otherwise you may need to install a card to accept the cable. It's an easy install.

You already have a movie editor if you are using Windows XP or Vista. It's called Microsoft Movie Maker. Movie Maker is an easy to use, excellent piece of software that will take you a long way on your film making journey.

The final piece of required equipment will be some type of backdrop. An uncluttered wall or even a bed sheet will do. Just make sure there is nothing in the background that will distract from your message.

Think you are ready to shoot your DIY video? STOP! Now is time for planning or storyboarding your production. Time spent here is some of the most valuable you will spend. Think about shooting your video in 4-5 minute sections to keep viewer attention. Plan what you are going to say, do you need any props? Special set up? Etc?

The last step is practice, practice and more practice. Check YouTube for more great ideas on film making. Best of success to you and your projects.

Make Money, Build Traffic, and Increase Sales

When you are just starting out with your Internet business, you want to keep expenses down to a minimum. Yet, you must still attract people to visit your website. Without traffic, you have no business. Fortunately, there are many free or low cost ways to attract visitors to your website. One of the best free and easy techniques to make money, build traffic, and increase sales is through the use of online Internet forums.

Internet forums are websites that focus on the exchange of information. Some people are asking questions and others provide answers. And others just want to vent or discuss topics that are related to their niche. Most forums are targeted to one particular area. An advantage of using forums is the fact that almost all of the people on the site are interested in the same topic.

Almost all forums allow you to participate for free, but in most cases, you must first register in order to participate. You can find forums related to your website by going to Google. Once there, go to Groups and enter your keyword information.

An important matter related to forums is the fact that you must take the time to read their terms of service. Those who repeatedly violate the rules will quickly be banned and prohibited from using that forum in the future.

That brings us to the main focus of this article. How can you advertise your business, make money, build traffic, and increase sales using online forums? Most forums allow you to add a signature (sig) file to each posting that you make. Develop a signature file that promotes the website or product that you are promoting. Your sig file should read like a small two or three line classified ad. When you set up your account, check the box to indicate that your sig file should appear with each posting that you enter.

Don't start posting blatant advertisements on your first visit to a forum. If you do this, people will view your postings as spam and will ignore the information you post. Start out by answering questions in your area of expertise. Of course, with each question you answer, your sig file will quietly advertise your site. After you have answered a number questions, people will begin to see you as an expert in the field, and you will begin to see increased traffic to your site.

Make sure you register with as many related forums as possible. To get maximum advantage from your forum sig file, post information every day on each forum you are registered with. By using this technique, you will be quite surprised at the amount of traffic that you can generate through forums.

5 Sure-Fire Ways to Make Money Online

There are many ways to make money online today, and thousands of people are earning a substantial income from the comfort of their own homes. How are they making money? With a successful Internet business, of course!

Perhaps you want to earn a part-time income from home or start a full-time Internet business. Maybe you're a mom who wants to stay home while earning a living. Or, maybe you're sick and tired of the "rat race" and want to settle down with your own home business. Whatever the case, you can choose one of the sure-fire methods of making money online below to get started.

1. Offer Services That Other Web Business Owners Will Need

Many people earn money online while offering services that other Web business owners need on a continual basis. These services include Web hosting, domain name registration, web design, and content writing. Every new website must have a Web host, domain name, web designer and content. These services are available everywhere online, but fortunately, there's always room for a few more! Online users are starting new Internet businesses every day. So, the potential for making money online with these services is tremendous.

You can start from scratch with these businesses or find a company that allows you to resell its products and services. For instance, instead of setting up your own servers to become a Web host, you can become a reseller of hosting services and share a part of the profits. With this setup, your primary job is to promote the service. The parent Web host company does the rest.

2. Expand Your Present Business

If you already own a business, you can expand it by using a website. If your company has its own website, your customers can go online to learn more about you, buy your products or ask questions. It's a great way to advertise and build customer trust. Also, you can mention your website address in all your print, television and radio advertising to maximize results.

3. Start a "Niche" Internet Business

Many people start small Internet businesses that reflect who they are or what they enjoy. The word "niche" took on a whole new meaning when the Internet came into existence. A niche business can be anything you want it to be - an online flower shop, online classic car club, online magazine, online clothing store, online shopping mall, online photo stock agency, online candy store, online quilt outlet, or an online shoe store. Choose something you enjoy doing and find a way to build a small Internet business around that theme. And, don't let the word "small" fool you. Owning a small business is a great way to make money on the Internet!

4. Earn Money Online Through Auctions

Don't have time to manage a website? Try online auctions. You can sell just about anything at eBay and other Internet auction sites, but be sure you choose a market that has a strong demand. Some items sell well through auctions, some don't. Also, be sure to choose a product with a high profit margin so you don't lose money each time you list your items.

5. Provide Internet Marketing Services

Online company owners are always looking for effective ways to promote their websites. If you're a savvy Internet marketer, this business offers a tremendous money opportunity for you. You can earn money online while helping others increase their profits. Internet marketing today involves search engine promotion and SEO, Web content and optimization for article pages, pay-per-click campaigns, keyword research, press releases, banner and pop-up advertising, e-zine and mailing lists, and link exchanges. You can specialize in one of these areas or offer marketing techniques for all categories.

These are five proven ways to make money online. Each of these opportunities can provide a steady stream of income if you work diligently to promote your online business and services and always provide excellent customer service. Use these ideas to get started making money today!

Create Email Marketing Campaigns That Make Money - Start Here

The game is called email marketing and in order to be an internet success story you must learn the rules, follow them, and succeed at this game. We will be talking about how to create email marketing campaigns that make money and this subject is geared towards those of us that actually build our own list instead of buying or renting a list.

I do not agree with buying or renting lists because it is a waste and you never know when you will be accused of spamming. Stick with building your own list and you will see better results. So, onto the article.

The first thing you have to realize is that if you continually promote to your list without providing any real content for them you will lose readers very fast and end up losing subscribers. You have to give them some content.

The second thing you have to do if you are going to create email marketing campaigns that make money is start building a list. This is very easy to do if you have a website and use an auto responder.

The auto responder will have a web form you can create from their website. When you plug this code into your site you will either a block of text with a form that will allow someone to sign up, a popup, or an exit popup depending on what options you chose.

Then, when someone signs up they will be put into your list with your auto responder. You can set up as many messages as you want in your auto responder to automatically be sent to your new subscribers. Once it is set up your work is done.

The last thing you need to do is realize that you cannot over promote to your list. Three messages a week maximum is a good rule of thumb unless you are giving away a free 5 day course or something like that.

It is easy to give them content anyway. Just go to a free article directory and find a good article or two a week to recommend that they read. You could also give them a free eBook download as well.

The decision is ultimately yours, but either way remember these tips and your email marketing campaigns will have a better chance of making you money. The money is in the list so you will want to begin building a list today and by this time next year you will know how to create email marketing campaigns that make money.

How To Make Money In Stocks

A "stock" - more commonly known as a share in some parts of the world - means a portion of ownership or equity in a company. As such, a stockholder is essentially an owner of that company with specific rights and obligations. Companies list on the stock market - or more precisely, a specific stock exchange - to sell their equity to the public, and thereby raise capital they can use to grow their business. Once a company has listed on a particular stock exchange its shares can be traded on an ongoing basis by investors and traders alike.

While people often talk about "the stock market" they are usually referring to either a particular (physical) stock exchange where companies' shares are available to trade... or the sum total of the world's stock exchanges. In other words, if someone claims to trade the stock market, they may be referring to the general principle of trading stocks, or they may be referring to trading shares on a specific stock exchange. Stock exchanges can be large or small, depending on how many companies are listed, and the value of their share capital. The major stock exchanges are the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Bombay Stock Exchange, London Stock Exchange, Frankfurt Stock Exchange, Shanghai Stock Exchange and the New York Stock Exchange.

Buying and selling shares involves contacting a stock broker and asking them to settle the trade on your behalf. In return for facilitating this transaction, they will take a commission - either a flat fee or a percentage of the value of the order. You can call a broker via telephone or simply place your order on their website (most broker's have websites to enable this).

So how do you actually make money in stocks? Well, there are a number of ways, but a lot depends on your goals. If your objective is to invest for the long-term then you might take the view that, over time, a company's share price reflects its financial value. If you buy now, and the company's performance improves, your stock holding should be worth more in the future. You can either cash in the profit you've made or keep the stock in the hope that it will continue to rise in value.

In fact, this is the perspective generally taken by "fundamental investors" to make money in stocks. Fundamental investors use fundamental information about a company (primarily its financial performance) to justify buying, holding or selling stocks. Fundamental investors tend to hold their investments for several months at least, often a few years, and in some cases decades.

The other main type of investor is not really an investor at all - he or she is really a "trader". A trader typically rejects a long-term approach and seeks to make money in stocks by taking a much shorter term view. Since, in the short-term, prices of stocks are much less indicative of a company's value, there is often little point considering all the fundamentals. What matters is the market's perception of value, not necessarily a company's real value.

Given the capriciousness of the stock market in the short term (i.e. minutes, hours, days and weeks), traders often prefer to use "technical analysis" - the art and science of evaluating price data - in order to issue trades. Technical analysts study price trends - depicted in charts - and draw conclusions about where the price might go next. Then they buy, sell or hold on that basis.

Both "fundamentalists" and "technicians" can make money in stocks. One of the world's wealthiest individuals, Warren Buffet, is a well-known advocate of investing on the fundamentals. On the other hand, there are many traders who swear by a technical approach. In particular, technical analysis holds an allure for many people who are excited by the idea of using a "super secret" trading system to make huge profits.

Trading systems can vary widely. Essentially, a trading system is the step-by-step approach used by a trader to make money in stocks. While there are general approaches to trading e.g. trend following, candlestick charting and others, any given trading system is likely to be tailored by the trader to suit themselves.

There's no question that it's possible to make money in stocks. It's also possible to lose - so it's a good idea to learn as much as you can about stock market investing and trading.
